A Change of season, a Change hair

As I sit here eating all my kids’ Halloween candy (because obviously someone has to), I find myself thinking about what’s passed and what’s to come.

The slower season is finally behind us, and before the holiday craziness officially begins, Natalia and I have decided to take a little time for ourselves. She’ll be heading back home, while I’ll be escaping to Mexico with my kiddos for some sunshine, sandy beaches and hopefully a little relaxation.

But before we trade our salon chairs for vacation mode, let’s talk about what’s been happening at Bobbypin.

Bright blondes, extensions and, of course, Cezanne!

These three have easily been some of our most requested services lately, and I can see why.

When it comes to blondes, I’m noticing a shift. Everyone still wants to feel bright and blonde, but we’re seeing more emphasis on bold, bright face-framing pieces paired with a softer, more lived-in blonde throughout the back. The contrast is what makes it so beautiful. You get that fresh, bright blonde feeling around your face without having to commit to a full head of high-maintenance blonde. Personally, I love this look. It's effortless but still makes a statement.

And can we talk about extensions for a second?

I don’t know about you, but my hair has been feeling drier than ever lately. The change in weather always seems to do it. One minute my hair feels great, and the next I’m wondering where all the moisture went.

Which has me thinking… maybe it’s time to bring back my long, luscious hair.

I’ve been going back and forth about extensions again, and I have a feeling that once I return from Mexico, I might just give in. There’s something about having a full head of beautiful hair that makes you feel like a completely different person.

I’m also considering treating myself to a Cezanne smoothing treatment.

Now, Cezanne is primarily designed to help smooth frizz and make hair more manageable, but I love the way it can leave hair feeling softer, smoother and shinier. With my ends feeling particularly dry lately, I think a little extra smoothing might be exactly what I need. It won't repair split ends, but it can certainly help improve the overall look and feel of my hair.

Funny how I spend my days making everyone else's hair beautiful and then suddenly realize mine could use a little attention too.

With Christmas just around the corner, I know the salon is about to get busy. There will be blondes to brighten, extensions to install, holiday parties to prepare for and plenty of coffee to keep us going.

But first, a little sunshine.

I’m looking forward to coming back refreshed, inspired and ready for the holiday rush. There’s something exciting about this time of year. The salon gets busier, everyone wants their hair done, and there's that little bit of magic in the air.

So, tell me, what are your holidays looking like?

Are you escaping somewhere warm, spending time with family, or getting yourself holiday ready with a fresh colour and beautiful hair?

Whatever your plans are, I hope you find a little time to do something for yourself.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a few more Halloween chocolates to get through before my kids notice they're missing.
